Charlotte County Digital History

Today, we are going to talk about some Charlotte County history, newly preserved by our libraries and presented to us by WGCU. More than three dozen oral history stories around Charlotte County are now stored digitally and are apart of the histories collection stored online at https://charlottefl.ent.sirsi.net/client.en_US/libraries . WGCU goes on to say “These personal narratives provide important insight into the history and development of Charlotte County since its creation in 1921, making them a key resource to understanding the community we live in today.” There are so many interesting stories to be heard around the forming of Charlotte County. Here at Southwest Florida Dream Builders, we love this area and all of the unique history that comes with it! Within the article, we are given lost of pieces of some of these interesting stories. Believe it or not, all of the audio histories were collected by only one employee of the Charlotte County Library and History department, Joe Guerzo. He previously volunteered to work on the Georgia-based Witness to War project, collecting war stories from aging WWII veterans. The article is definitely worth the read, and the Charlotte County Library page is fun to explore. Check it out! Maybe it will show you some of the charm that our little slice of paradise has to offer and convince you to take the plunge to move to our area.
